Spam can be done over social networking websites. Some spam is harmless and won't affect your computer, but some Spam can be very Harmful to your computer holding viruses and ruining your computer by downloading different things on your computer allowing people to hack into your computer or phone or social networking site. To get rid of unwanted spam most email's now have a spam/junk box which will try and seperate spam from your main email box. this won't always work, but you have to take some responsibility for your own safety on the internet. Some programs you can download will stop this from happening because when it is sent it will sense it in the email and it won't let you open it. so you would have to get rid of it or delete it! when people use spam it can also be called identity theft spam, which is mainly known as phishing.
